Leather jackets run narrower through the shoulder and shorter through the torso. Shirts and knitwear are shaped differently through the bust and waist.
A women's biker jacket and a men's biker jacket come from the same construction template with different pattern pieces. Seam reinforcement, fabric weight, and hardware are identical between them. In practice, the aging and durability characteristics are the same regardless of which line you're buying from.
